Verification standards
Because of national public-record data standards, judgments generally cannot be reported unless the record contains your name, address, and either your SSN or date of birth, and is refreshed regularly. Many old records fail that test.
Also check
- Whether you were properly served — improper service can support vacating the judgment.
- Whether the judgment was satisfied, vacated, or paid and never updated.
- Whether the amount matches the court docket.
The Bottom Line
Judgments are often the easiest public record to clear once we obtain the docket.
